First and foremost, the AR-LGA (Advanced Water Rescue) is the AwareReach flagship lifeguard and water rescue qualification, representing the highest professional standard in the AwareReach Lifeguard and Water Rescue pathway. AwareReach designs this advanced water rescue training in Lebanon to prepare senior aquatic safety professionals to lead complex rescue operations across the full range of water environments.
Additionally, the programme is delivered over nine intensive days, combining advanced rescue techniques with incident command leadership, multi-agency coordination, and specialist capability development. Furthermore, the curriculum is designed to match the demands placed on senior lifeguards, water safety officers, and aquatic emergency response team leaders throughout Lebanon.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of AR-LGA, candidates will be able to:
– Command a complex water rescue operation using ICS structure and multi-agency communication
– Perform and direct dive-assisted and subaquatic victim recovery operations
– Respond to flood and swift water scenarios applying current-reading and throw-line techniques
– Lead boat and watercraft operations in rescue and search-and-recovery contexts
– Conduct night and low-visibility rescue operations using systematic search patterns
– Coordinate with helicopter and air assets for aquatic casualty extraction
– Apply advanced trauma assessment and stabilisation in aquatic rescue environments
– Plan and execute mass-casualty water incident response including triage and shore operations

Assessment
Written Examination — 70 multiple-choice questions, closed book, 90 minutes. Consequently, candidates must achieve a minimum of 80% to pass.
Practical Assessment — Multi-day comprehensive scenario assessment covering incident command, dive rescue, swift water, boat operations, and mass-casualty response. All components must be passed.
Prerequisite
AwareReach requires a valid AR-LGS (Open Water and Sea Lifeguard) certification for enrolment. Additionally, a minimum of 1 year of documented active lifeguard service post-AR-LGS is required.
Certification
Successful candidates receive the AR-LGA — Advanced Water Rescue Certificate of Competence, issued under the AwareReach Certification Authority. In addition, the certificate remains valid for 2 years from date of issue. Overall, this advanced water rescue training in Lebanon follows international aquatic safety standards established by ILCOR.
